The Sports Arena TIF District was originally created in 1998 to fund infrastructure improvements necessary to support the American Airlines Center on the northwest corner of Downtown Dallas. In 2012, the Sports Arena TIF was extended to provide enhanced public improvements and redevelop surface parking lots that stifled growth in the district. The boundaries of the district were expanded to include the area of West Dallas now known as Trinity Groves and support its transformation into a vibrant gateway to West Dallas. The Sports Arena TIF District now has three sub-districts: Victory, Riverfront Gateway and West Dallas.
The Riverfront Gateway Sub-district contains a mixture of commercial and retail structures and serves as the connection between the Victory and West Dallas Sub-districts.
The West Dallas Sub-district’s land uses
vary from small retail shops to larger, primarily
vacant, manufacturing and warehousing space with Singleton Boulevard as the primary east/west access through the sub-district.
